The Science

of the

Ocean

Earlier this year I had the chance to work on a live brief for the summer issue of Aquila Magazine during the Inkygoodness MYM Bootcamp . The brief was to create a vibrant, immersive double-page illustration for a summer-themed magazine issue focused on the Science of Coral as part of a global ocean exploration. The key goals were to visually celebrate the beauty and biodiversity of a single ocean ecosystem, engage young readers, and incorporate a sense of discovery and fun appropriate for the summer holiday season.

I illustrated a full spread centered around a coral reef ecosystem, bringing to life a vivid underwater scene teeming with marine life. The artwork was designed to be rich in color, detail, and energy, reflecting the diversity of coral species and ocean creatures in their natural habitat. Highlighted the delicate balance of reef ecosystems through careful composition and species selection. I chose the Fiji Barrier Reef (I was lucky enough to see it several years ago, when it was still in its full splendor) to focus on, showcasing species native to that environment. Incorporated a playful, adventure-like tone to resonate with the theme of global, water-based fun. Here all the part of the process.
